He sank half the bottle for breakfast Neglecting his lukewarm cup of tea Excused himself from the office Blaming issues with his sickly family He said it ain’t easy It ain’t easy being me He said it ain’t easy It ain’t easy being me She awoke as the sun, it was setting Head pounding with familiarity The stranger’s warmth, she found fleeting Her jaw, it was aching terribly She said it ain’t easy It ain’t easy being me She said it ain’t easy It ain’t easy being me They passed the bag between them Making the best use of their keys Before the polythene was empty They both asked for a promise to keep Please make it easy Can you make it easier for me? Please make it easy Can you make it easier for me? Cos’ I can’t take no more My eyes are red and raw But I can see that we’re in too deep... C’est Tragique! One day, I won’t suffer One day, I’ll be free I hate to act the victim But I play the role so gloriously ‘Cos it ain’t easy It ain’t easy being me It ain’t easy It ain’t easy being me

Drawn in by your smile I’ll stay here for a while Swimming in your eyes Is where I'll drown tonight Breathe. Just breathe. I’m on my knees Breathe. Just breathe. I beg and plead Parted mile by mile In this godless isle Soon we’ll reconcile It’s been quite a while Breathe. Just breathe. I’m on my knees Breathe. Just breathe. I beg and plead If you need me, you can find me in your heart and mind If you lose me, you can find me in your heart and mind Breathe. Just breathe. I’m on my knees Breathe. Just breathe. I beg and plead When you need me, you will find me in your heart and mind

Not a Cloud 03:04
Colder winds are sweeping in And I'll keep you warm for a while But I’m human too And I break like you And my bones they chill to ice No amount of wine can make this fine And whisky, it numbs the pain But a sober mind Can see it’s time For us to part again The rains arrive, and still we strive To keep the dream alive Though it’s not goodbye As my wings take flight You'll be always on my mind Different stations of rationalities Through every season, you’ll always be with me The sun will rise and I’ll realise The beauty in your eyes We’ll meet once more 'cross that wind-swept shore With not a cloud in all the sky Yes, we'll meet once more And kiss like never before With not a cloud in all the sky

about

Three songs that are somewhat different to my usual output. They were written during the introspective void that was lockdown with the aim to sooth rather than agitate.

'C'est Tragique!' - A song about addiction and loss, both of others and of the self. A running theme of self-pity and self-flagellation runs throughout the tune, though it ends with a message of hope for the future.

Everyone has it tough sometimes, but that doesn't mean those tough times will last.

'Breathe. Just Breathe' - A song about battling with anxiety and dread, particularly within the context of 2020 and beyond.

It features the excellent Flo Parker Bombosch on backing vocals.

'Not a Cloud' - A song about embracing negativity as an inevitable aspect of life and pursuing a more optimistic future.

There will always be trials to overcome, but these only make us stronger
